Snow melting system embedded in sand under pavers Heat cable is spaced at 6 inches and embedded in sand. Click on images to enlarge Heat cable is secured to the ground before approximately 2 inches of sand is poured. Pavers are laid after the sand is poured and the heat cable is completely covered. The snow melting systems are activated by an aerial mounted snow switch and/or manual 12-hour timer.
